I try to always act in service of my faith. Throughout my life, I have witnessed many Christians who do not walk a path of service. This was one of the obstacles I met in my search for higher meaning.

I pray deeply to not be an obstacle for those who may be seeking a life in Christ.

“Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

The longer we live in the world the more it covers us in sin and assumption. Children aren’t totally free of this corruption, but they have a cleaner access to faith.

My younger son has an easy faith that I cherish. He understands things that have taken me years to process.

I don’t know if I’ll ever get past over-thinking Scripture and faith, but I pray to move toward his childlike conection with God.

While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?” Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid, just believe.”

I didn’t hear these words when my wife died, but I was gifted this message.

Fear has a limited use, if any. You can can keep yourself safe in dangerous situations by loving yourself amd those around you and taking rational steps to honor that love. Focusing on Jesus and His calm in the storm can bring peace to our hearts and clear our heads during crisis.

That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped.

I love what comes next, But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion…

Staying calm in the storm is hard. We cling to mortal life, yet we know we will be powerless when the last storm hits.

I pray to stay calm through my storms.

When they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him, and when they had made an opening, they let down the bed on which the paralytic lay. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

Today I pray for courage and heart as I attempt to follow Christ’s model.

“No one has authority over your walk with Christ.”

Pastor Alan of Townsend Church put words to the uneasy feeling I have had in my heart over religious exemptions. It is disgusting when a business, government, or organization assumes the authority to judge the worthiness of an individual’s religious beliefs.

My walk is with Christ, not my employer. Whether that drives me to live a natural (imperfectly), fit (imperfectly), or righteous (imperfectly) life is of no concern to anyone else.

I choose to live my life for Christ, not earthly authorities. That is the only declaration one needs to free him or herself from forced medical procedures or compelled speech.

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

“Disrupt my comfort…”

Much of the world is harassed, helpless, and without a shepherd. I’m not far off from feeling these same ways. Whether as part of the helpless, or occasionally freed from the flock.
