Considering the wind, rain, and nearly-freezing temperatures, I was energized and refreshed by how many families joined us today. We even had first-time visitors!
These folks warm my heart and soul. The world would be colder without them.

I didn’t take many pictures today as we woke in our tent to rain and waited out the storms before heading out on the water at Lums Pond State Park.
The water was cold and the wind was warm. We saw herons, gulls, ducks, cardinals, and an eagle and the boys played on a little beach like it was June.
We joined homeschooling friends back at our camp for burgers and brussel sprouts on the fire.
After an exhausting day I love lying in my tent and listening to the sounds of the night.

We overcame plenty of early obstacles and a later-than-expected start to lunch, adventure, and ice cream in Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania.
The trail was mostly flat and offered some of our favorite views, including chipmunks, deer, changing leaves, colorful fungi, and lots of beautiful sky looks.
It was warm enough in Ohiopyle to dip our feet in the Youghiogheny River.
Near the end of our trek, the sun set and we got to see paper lanterns fly into the sky. In the picture they are above and to the right of the building in the center.
We set out on an adventure weekend today.
After nearly five hours of driving, our temporary digs in Confluence, Pennsylvania, welcomed us with a magnificent meadow of wildflowers.

We met new friends today and the kids unleashed their creativity at Winterthur.
They dug into the ponds for algae and the bushes for berries. It all seemed like an excuse to get dirty, but the “plates” they produced were truly inspired.
